Pastor Stephen Grant?

Stephen Grant is the pastor at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church on eastern Long Island. Grant is one of the more unique second-career clergy around, as he once worked for the CIA. Besides theology, his interests include archery, golf, writing, classic films, the beach, poker, baseball, and history. Grant also knows his wines, champagnes and brews. Oh yes, he generally dislikes politicians, and happens to be an expert marksman with a handgun and a rifle, while being pretty handy with a combat knife as well.

"Extraordinarily Good Read"

Best-selling novelist comments on ROOT OF ALL EVIL? A PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVEL by Ray Keating...

"Root of All Evil? is an extraordinarily good read.  Only Ray Keating could come up with a character like Pastor Stephen Grant... As trouble mounts in this page-turner, Grant will need both skills  - martial and theological - to punish evil and save the good.  Even though the Bible says that it's the love of money which is the root of all evil, Grant will find that even a casual appreciation of the U.S. dollar is enough to corrupt church men, government officials, and foreign agents."  - Paul L. Maier, author of A Skeleton in God's Closet, More Than A Skeleton, and The Constantine Codex

Reader/Reviewer Quote of the Day

Reader/Reviewer Quote of the Day:

As trouble mounts in this page-turner, Grant will need both skills -- martial and theological -- to punish evil and save the good. Even though the Bible says that it's the love of money which is the root of all evil, Grant will find that even a casual appreciation of the U.S. dollar is enough to corrupt church men, government officials, and foreign agents. Yet Grant can also save souls in whatever den of inequity he finds them.

Reader/Reviewer Quote of the Day

Reader/Reviewer Quote of the Day:

Grant is a Lutheran minister with a past quite different from that of a typical cleric: special forces, CIA, a man who packs heat as well as packaging the gospel.

Big Thumbs Up from Former NRA President!

Big Thumbs Up from Former NRA President!

Want a good reason to read Ray Keating’s Pastor Stephen Grant novels – WARRIOR MONK, ROOT OF ALL EVIL?, AN ADVENT FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY, and THE RIVER?

Well, former NRA President David Keene said this:

“Thriller and mystery writers have concocted all manner of main characters, from fly fishing lawyers to orchid aficionados and former ballplayers, but none has come up with anyone like Stephen Grant, the former Navy Seal and CIA assassin, and current Lutheran pastor. Grant mixes battling America's enemies and sparring with enemies of traditional Christian values, while ministering to his Long Island flock. The amazing thing is that the character works. The Stephen Grant novels are great reads beginning with Warrior Monk, which aptly describes Ray Keating's engaging hero.”

For good measure, best-selling novelist Paul L. Maier adds:

“Keating’s Pastor Stephen Grant manages to wield both Bible and bullets with equal expertise. Grant is clearly in control whether in or out of the pulpit.”

Best-Selling Novelist Paul Maier Loves "Root of All Evil?"

Paul L. Maier, best-selling novelist whose list of notable books includes A Skeleton in God's Closet, recently served up the following assessment of Root of All Evil? A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel by Ray Keating:

Root of All Evil? is an extraordinarily good read.  Only Ray Keating could come up with a character like Pastor Stephen Grant.  You'll remember him from the first book in his series, Warrior Monk.  Grant is a Lutheran minister with a past quite different from that of a typical cleric:  special forces, CIA, a man who packs heat as well as packaging the gospel.  Oh, and he's also married to the ex-wife of a sleazy U.S. Senator.  Happens all the time, right?!
Ray Keating writes brilliantly and convincingly.  Violating all rules of physics, he can turn novels of paper into iron magnets that you cannot put down.

Thanks so much, Paul!
