Pastor Stephen Grant?

Stephen Grant is the pastor at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church on eastern Long Island. Grant is one of the more unique second-career clergy around, as he once worked for the CIA. Besides theology, his interests include archery, golf, writing, classic films, the beach, poker, baseball, and history. Grant also knows his wines, champagnes and brews. Oh yes, he generally dislikes politicians, and happens to be an expert marksman with a handgun and a rifle, while being pretty handy with a combat knife as well.

Dig Into the Pastor Stephen Grant Novels

Feast of St. Bartholomew

Today is the Feast of St. Bartholomew. That certainly gets recognized by Father Tom Stone at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church in the Pastor Stephen Grant novels by Ray Keating.

Here is a moment at St. Bart's from Warrior Monk: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel:

About the same time that the terrorist cell in Queens was plotting the murder of Pope Augustine I, similar barbecue fare was being served some 64 miles east on green grass stretching behind the rectory of St. Bartholomew’s Church in the village of Eastport.
Tom and Maggie Stone began hosting an annual Labor Day barbecue when they arrived at St. Bart’s. Over the years, with the number of Stone children growing to six, it became a running joke that the party celebrated sending the kids back to school.
Since it was open to the entire congregation, and given St. Bart’s recent growth, this was the largest Stone back- to-school gathering yet. More than one hundred guests were expected throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Father Ron McDermott and Pastor Stephen Grant were among the attendees. And while Tom and Maggie played hosts, Ron and Stephen volunteered to handle the grill. Hamburgers and hot dogs were on the menu, in addition to chicken...

The Next Thriller Master: Ray Keating

The Next Thriller Master!

Love Clancy, Ludlum, Grisham, Cussler, Griffin, Morrell, not to mention Ian Fleming’s James Bond? Then you’ll love Ray Keating’s PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVELS, as they have been compared to the works of these mystery/thriller masters.

Get Keating’s WARRIOR MONK, ROOT OF ALL EVIL?, AN ADVENT FOR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY, and his latest, THE RIVER, at Amazon.com.

KFUO’s “BookTalk” host calls Keating “a great novelist.”

In The Washington Times, a former CIA operative and current pastor declared, “What Ian Fleming’s 007 series has probably done for ex-MI-6 agents and Tom Clancy has done for retired CIA officers, Mr. Keating has done for the minority of former CIA agents who have served their country by working in the intelligence community, but now wish to serve God.”

Another 4 Stars for "The River"

From a new 4-star Amazon.com review of The River: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel by Ray Keating:

"An interesting adventure story with an expression of the Lutheran point of view of the Christian faith. It is not for the reader easily offended by the reality of the world."

Top 10 Christian Novelist

The editor-in-chief of WORLD magazine, Marvin Olasky, writes in the June 28, 2014, issue: "Most of my favorite detective or spy novel authors have written series of books. As it’s hard to declare one particular book in a series to be best of show, I’ll simply list 10 secular and 10 Christian authors."

And among his top 10 Christian novelists? Ray Keating, author of the Pastor Stephen Grant series - Warrior Monk, Root of All Evil?, An Advent for Religious Liberty, and the just-published The River.

Enjoy all four books, available at Amazon.com.

     They both sipped the wine.
“How is it that you know so much about wine and cheese pairings?” she asked.
“It’s from my days with the agency. You know, there actually were a few James Bond-like moments, and ...”
Jennifer joked, “Stop. I should have known better than to ask.”
