Pastor Stephen Grant?

Stephen Grant is the pastor at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church on eastern Long Island. Grant is one of the more unique second-career clergy around, as he once worked for the CIA. Besides theology, his interests include archery, golf, writing, classic films, the beach, poker, baseball, and history. Grant also knows his wines, champagnes and brews. Oh yes, he generally dislikes politicians, and happens to be an expert marksman with a handgun and a rifle, while being pretty handy with a combat knife as well.

“Having read 'Warrior Monk' earlier this summer, I was eagerly anticipating 'Root of All Evil?' from Keating. What a splendid follow-up to the first novel. It is shorter (just over 300 pages), and so it is a faster read than 'Warrior Monk', but doesn't lack for depth and creativity.” - 5-Star Amazon Review

But consider three thumbs-up from noteworthy reviewers...

"Root of All Evil? is an extraordinarily good read.  Only Ray Keating could come up with a character like Pastor Stephen Grant... As trouble mounts in this page-turner, Grant will need both skills  - martial and theological - to punish evil and save the good.  Even though the Bible says that it's the love of money which is the root of all evil, Grant will find that even a casual appreciation of the U.S. dollar is enough to corrupt church men, government officials, and foreign agents.  Yet Grant can also save souls in whatever den of inequity he finds them."  - Paul L. Maier, author of A Skeleton in God's Closet, More Than A Skeleton, and The Constantine Codex

"Well written, fast paced, it held my attention well while merging drama, adventure, theology, and economics."  - Mary Moerbe, author of Blessed: God's Gift of Love and Family Vocation

"Ray Keating's second Pastor Stephen Grant novel, Root of All Evil?, is a fantastic follow up to Warrior Monk. It's a well crafted political thriller full of intrigue and theological truth. Keating's world has proven profitable for contrasting good theology with bad."  - Tyrel Bramwell, author of The Gift and the Defender

James Bond as Your Pastor or Priest?

The just-published DEEP ROUGH is the eleventh Pastor Stephen Grant thriller/mystery. Grab the latest, the first (WARRIOR MONK), and all of the adventures in between.

Among the praise from reviewers for award-winning novelist Ray Keating are...

“Ray Keating is a great novelist.” – host of KFUO radio’s BookTalk

“I miss Tom Clancy. Keating fills that void for me.” – Lutheran Book Review

“Grant mixes battling America's enemies and sparring with enemies of traditional Christian values, while ministering to his Long Island flock. The amazing thing is that the character works. The Stephen Grant novels are great reads beginning with Warrior Monk, which aptly describes Ray Keating's engaging hero.”  David Keene, Editor-at-Large, The Washington Times

“Only Ray Keating could come up with a character like Pastor Stephen Grant.”  - Paul L. Maier, author of A Skeleton in God's Closet, More Than A Skeleton, and The Constantine Codex

3 Reasons for Reading the Pastor Stephen Grant Mysteries/Thrillers: Thumbs Up from Pastor Rod Zwonitzer, Retired “BookTalk” Host, for DEEP ROUGH

Pastor Rod Zwonitzer is the retired host of KFUO radio’s “BookTalk.” He recently offered a 5-star review of DEEP ROUGH: A PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVEL. Here are 3 reasons to read DEEP ROUGH from his review:

1. “Keating's latest Pastor Stephen Grant Series offering is fittingly titled: Deep Rough. Displaying his adeptness at developing existing and new characters, he weaves an intriguing story around a Chinese golfer on the PGA Tour and his father who is a Christian pastor in China. This unfolds with scenarios involving both governments, the FBI, the CIA, and POTUS...”

2. “The plot thickens and turns and ebbs in many directions, keeping the reader engaged till the very end.”

3. “Only thing left to say: will this Pastor Stephen Grant series end? Hope not, but if it does, hope Keating takes off in new novel direction, which he has become so masterful at. Read it. Gift it. Share it.”

Thanks, Rod!
